The Public Inquiry held May/June 2003 into the building of the New Tunnel has still not made its report

The P.T.A. said in June 2001 that the work on the New Tyne Tunnel was expected to begin in Early 2004 although Tunnel charges were increased in August 2001 to help pay for the New Tunnel
